Air travel within New Zealand
If you are located within New Zealand but outside of Rotorua, you can fly into Rotorua Regional Airport at very reasonable prices. Both Air New Zealand and Qantas New Zealand provide services to and from Rotorua Regional Airport, linking travellers directly to Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. Back to top

Air travel from Australia

Rotorua Regional Airport is a domestic airport that offers flights to Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. With expantion plans currently on track, it is expected that by September 2009 the airport will become an international airport served by flights from Australia. Travellers from Australia can expect a three hour flight from Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane. There is no word yet as to which airlines will be servicing this airport, but it will most likely be Air New Zealand, Qantas, and possibly Pacific Blue. Back to top

Air travel from around the world
If you are flying to New Zealand from Europe, the Americas or Asia, you must fly in to Auckland International Airport before transferring to a flight to Rotorua. Flights from Auckland to Rotorua are between NZD$150.00 - NZD$200.00. Back to top

Requirements for international visitors entering New Zealand
All overseas visitors are required to have a valid passport and, with the exception of delegates from visa-free countries, are required to have the appropriate visa. For information on obtaining a visa, including necessary funds and health requirements, please visit: www.immigration.govt.nz. We suggest that you allow for a minimum of 1 month to have your visa processed by Immigration New Zealand or the applicable New Zealand embassy or consulate.Back to top

Letters of invitation
If you require a letter of invitation in order to secure a visa, you must first register for and pay all applicable registration fees. Once all fees have been paid, an email requesting a letter of invitation should be sent to the conference organiser. The Centre for Continuing Education, The University of Auckland nor the New Zealand Geothermal Workshop committee bears legal responsibility for any visiting Workshop delegate. Back to top

Medical insurance
If you are visiting New Zealand and have an accident, you will be glad to know that all visitors are covered by the Accident Compensation Scheme, which means the public health system will cover the costs of your treatment. However many other medical services are not free to visitors, therefore we suggest you arrange medical insurance before traveling to New Zealand. Back to top

Rotorua's weather
Rotorua's weather is fine, with a lot of warm sunshine in the summer and clear crisp days in the winter. In November, we can expect to have temperatures of 13 - 21 celcius. Come prepared for changes in weather and temperature, especially if you will be doing any outdoors activities. A raincoat and/or umbrella is a good idea! Back to top
